A unique voice in the world of Art, Los Angeles-based pastel Artist Kate Moriarty is creating a sensation among collectors. Her colorful and dreamy artwork explores the land of the subconscious. Many of her images are taken from nature, but not the natural world as we know it.

W.S. Morris, a contemporary Fine Artist describes her artwork as “simple and beautiful at first glance, but then has this sort of haunting intensity--like some Jungian undercurrent of sorrow, joy and an inexpressible emotion.”

In January of 2005, Moriarty’s Artwork was featured in a ten page spread in the cutting-edge fashion magazine ZINK. Also, Modern Postcard chose Moriarty’s artwork for their Nationwide Campaign in the Fall of 2006. Kate Moriarty has since owned two Art Galleries featuring her own work, as well as supporting other artists advance their own art career. In 2020, she closed the Kate Moriarty Fine Art Galley in Valley Village and moved to a private studio. Moriarty continues to sell her work online and rent her work for T.V. and film. Her growing list of collectors include well-known actors, artists, filmmakers and musicians from around the world.

As Margaret Danielak, author of A Gallery without Walls, explains: “Kate Moriarty is a masterful contemporary American Impressionist with a unique, signature style. Her universally appealing images—created in pastel on suede—are each executed with great care, exuding warmth, charm and grace.”

Moriarty holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Georgia and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband and two daughters..

Artist Statement

I seek to bypass the obvious, stirring the subconscious mind instead.

The subconscious mind is fascinating to me.  Dreams are powerful expressions of the subconscious. While I am dreaming, everything is possible. When I am awake it is not.

So I paint.

It is my way to experience my subconscious in a waking state. It liberates my mind, allowing it to breathe freely without limitation. I can travel to a place where there are gold trees, red skies, purple hills -- the land of infinite possibilities.

Places I dream to be.
